用途三:该品是一种对多种树脂都有很强的溶解力的增塑剂，能与多种纤维素树脂、橡胶、乙烯基树脂相容。有良好的成膜性、粘着性和防水性。通常与邻苯二甲酸二乙酯配合用于乙酸纤维素的薄膜、清漆、透明纸和模塑粉等的制作中。少量用于硝基纤维素的制作中。该品亦可用作丁腈胶的增塑剂，制品耐寒性良好。与其他增塑剂混用。可以克服挥发性大和低温结晶化等缺点。该品还可用作避蚊油（原油）以及滴滴涕的溶剂。该品也用作气相色谱固定液。
方法二:由苯酐与过量（4倍）的甲醇进行常压酯化，过量甲醇回流带水，反应得到DMP。将600kg苯酐、450kg90-95℃的甲醇、1050ml浓硫酸依次投入反应锅，加热回流24h。反应结束后，回收甲醇，然后用碳酸钠中和，用水洗涤，再经蒸馏即得成品。工业一级品邻苯二甲酸二甲酯的纯度≥99%。原料消耗定额：苯酐750kg/t、甲醇445kg/t。
外观性质:无色、无臭、耐光的稳定液体。

方法一:其制备方法是用苯酐与甲醇进行酯化反应，反应温度为回流温度，反应约十几小时，所得粗酯进行中和、水洗、蒸馏得产品。
注意事项:本产品有效成分1-甲基环丙烯为无色且不稳定的气体，其本身无法单独作为一种产品存在。该气体一经生成，便即刻与α-环糊精吸附，形成一种十分稳定的吸附混合物，并根据所需浓度，直接加工成所需制剂。所以本产品不存在高浓度原药
