Appearance	蜡状固体或结晶颗粒。熔点40℃，沸点225℃，闪点85℃。1g麻黄碱(299-42-3)溶于20ml水；0.2ml乙醇，溶于氯仿和乙醚。1g麻黄碱溶液在200ml水中溶液和pH值为10.8。常用其盐酸盐；盐酸麻黄碱（或称盐酸麻黄素，C10H15NO·HCl（[134-71-4]），白色针状结晶或结晶性粉末。熔点218℃，易溶于水，溶于乙醇，不溶于乙醚或氯仿，无臭，味苦。

用途一:麻黄碱为似肾上腺素药，能兴奋交感神经，药效较肾上腺素持久，口服有效。它能松弛支气管平滑肌、收缩血管，有显著的中枢兴奋作用。临床主要用于治疗习惯性支气管哮喘和预防哮喘发作，对严重支气管哮喘病人效果则不及肾上腺素。为增强疗效或减轻副作用，可与氨茶碱或苯海拉明、巴比妥类药物合用。用于鼻粘膜充血和鼻塞时，该品交果较肾上腺素为好，作用快而持久。

方法一:主要来源于植物麻黄。麻黄是我国著名称中药材，包括麻黄科植草麻黄（或华麻黄）、中麻黄和木贼林黄。麻黄中含生物碱1-2%，其中主要有左旋麻黄碱、右旋伪麻黄碱，尚有少量甲基麻黄碱、甲基伪麻黄碱和去甲基伪麻黄碱等。我国是生产天然麻黄碱的主要国家，采用提取法生产麻黄碱。通常采用水煎法。
