理化性质:过氧化苯甲酰又称过氧二苯甲酰、苯甲酰过氧化物、Acetoxyl、Acnegel、Beno xyl、Lucidol、Nericur、Xerac、BP5。白色斜方晶系结晶或结晶性粉末。稍有苯甲醛气味。有苦仁味。相对分子质量242.23。相对密度1.3440(25℃)。熔点103～106℃(分解并、爆炸)。折射率1.545。闪点125℃。强氧化剂，易燃烧，易爆炸。极微溶于水，微溶于甲醇、异丙醇，溶于乙醇(1.2g/100g)、丙酮(18.5g/100g)、氯仿(26.8g/100g)、乙酸乙酯(14.4g/ 100g)、苯(18.6g/100g)、乙醚(8.6g/ 100g)。在溶液中的半衰期为2.1h(85℃)、 10h(72℃)。在碱溶液中缓慢分解。在常温下稳定，在干燥状态下易因摩擦、冲击或加热而爆炸。加入硫酸可燃烧。因为是强氧化剂，可引起皮肤、粘膜炎症。小鼠经口LD5
废弃物建议处理方法:预处理包括用氢氧化钠分解。最后将可生物降解的苯(甲)酸钠溶液倾入下水道。大量的溶液处理需在排入下水道之前调节pH，或与不燃物混合后，控制焚烧。过氧化物的空容器应放在远处烧掉，或用10%的NaOH溶液洗刷。
用途五:作为面粉品质改良剂，具有杀菌作用和较强的氧化作用，能使面粉漂白。我国规定仅用于小麦粉，最大使用量0.06g/kg。
