用途一:非内吸性杀螨剂，用于防治多种作物的螨类
毒性:对雄性大鼠急性经口LD 50 为809mg/kg，雌性为684mg/kg。兔急性经皮LD 50 为1870mg/kg。含量300mg/kg三氯杀螨醇饲料喂狗1年，未发现中毒现象。鲤鱼LC 50 1.1mg/L (48h)，不伤害天敌。
方法一:将滴滴涕以二氯乙烷为溶剂，加1%偶氮二异丁腈作催化剂，于80～90℃通入氯气反应2h，然后减压蒸出溶剂。水解氯化产物水解反应在对甲苯磺酸33%、硫酸33%、水33%的混合酸性介质中进行，并以芳基碘酸或低级烷基磺酸为促进剂，于135～150℃反应5～6h，而后加入适量低沸点溶剂二氯乙烷和水，形成油水两层，提取油层，并用稀碱液和水洗涤后，减压蒸出溶剂，即得三氯杀螨醇原药。

中毒症状:症状与体征是其对神经系统的刺激作用所致，如头痛、眩晕、忧虑烦恼、情绪激动，也有呕吐、四肢软弱，双手震颤、失去时间和空间的定向，随后出现阵发痉挛。

急救治疗:[1]无特殊解毒剂，如经口摄入要催吐。 [2]尽可能保持病人安静，控制病人激动，清醒时，可给予常用剂量的巴比妥与其它镇静剂。 [3]注意维持呼吸，如有衰竭使用人工呼吸。
用途三:广谱性杀螨剂，对成螨、幼若螨和卵均有效。有较好选择性，不伤害天敌，对蜂娄安全。对害螨以触杀为主，残效期长，无内吸作用。用于防治棉花、果树、花奔多种害螨。多年使用易产生抗性。使用时将20%乳油对水800～1500倍液均匀喷雾。初用或气温高时，可扩大稀释倍数。
